Read on to better prepare yourself for the recovery phase of treatment and what you can do to ensure successful healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will I Be Able to Drive Home?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, you will need to make sure someone escorts you to and from your appointment. The reason is that you will receive anesthesia at the start of your surgery and additional sedation (if requested). Because of the invasive nature of this oral procedure, your dentist will likely recommend that for your safety, you do not attempt to drive for at least 24 hours after your surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will I Notice Any Bleeding After Leaving the Office?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While it might be alarming, you will likely notice some slight bleeding after you leave the dentist\u2019s office. In fact, it is not uncommon for this to continue for 2-3 days. While there will be clean gauze over your surgical sites, you will be expected to continually bite down firmly to help minimize and stop any additional bleeding. You will also need to adhere to the do\u2019s and do not\u2019s your dentist suggests to avoid causing your implants to bleed even more (i.e., do not spit or rinse, and do not blow your nose).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When Can I Brush My Teeth?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Proper oral hygiene is essential if you want to avoid an infection. This is why it is recommended that once 24 hours have passed, you continue to brush your teeth. While you will need to be mindful around your surgical sites, it can help to gently rinse your mouth with mild salt water. This not only thoroughly cleanses your oral cavity but also supports quicker healing. Just remember to not use hydrogen peroxide or mouthwash for at least two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Soon Can I Return to Work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When you can return to work is ultimately dependent upon your individual case. If you only needed one dental implant in Phoenix, there is a good chance you will be able to return much quicker than someone who needed between 4 and 8 implants to replace an entire arch. It is recommended, however, that you take at least 1-2 days off, if not 3-4 should you have a job that requires strenuous activity.
