A simple extraction is performed when the tooth is fully erupted and visible above the gum line. A surgical extraction, on the other hand, is recommended when a tooth is impacted or below the gums. This typically requires more time and energy, as your dentist in Phoenix will need to use a more invasive approach to safely remove the tooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Process of Removing a Tooth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once the tooth is removed, your dentist will remove any infected tissue before using their fingers to compress the socket. Washing it out to remove any remaining debris, they will add gauze to the area to stop any bleeding. Finally, your dentist will close up the gum tissue around the extraction site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help control the bleeding, additional gauze is placed over the surgical site, and you will be instructed to bite down to hold it in place. You can use an ice pack or cold compress to reduce any swelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the process, you may feel a bit of pressure, but you do not have to worry about any pain. The anesthesia and sedation you receive will eliminate the potential for any discomfort, allowing you to remain relaxed throughout your appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
